Our Family History
The Genealogy of the James and Karen Lannin Family
Welcome to the Family History pages of James and Karen Lannin. Our family genealogy started out in 2003 with only a few living and fewer deceased relatives. Now we are approaching 7,000 persons whose records can be found on this website. Our family history goes back to colonial America, It includes soldiers who served in the American Revolution, The War of 1812, The Civil War and World Wars I and II. It also includes some of the original Quakers who sailed to Bucks County with William Penn's Fleet. It includes Mennonites from Russia, immigrants from Ireland, Scotland and England, Germans, French, Basque immigrants and Swedish ancestors who settled in Arkansas. Some were Cherokees who travelled the "Trail of Tears" from Georgia and North Carolina to Oklahoma. At least one of those went back. The stories of the migrations from the 1930s Dustbowl brought the Okies from Muskogee to Bakersfield in California's San Joaquin Valley. Our family is quite diverse, and we wouldn't have it any other way! Many fascinating stories have come to light in the course of the research involved in the assembly of the information and media which comprise this history. We have discovered some famous relatives, but we have found many more average people of good character. Yes, we have also unearthed some scoundrels and real characters. There have been murderers and people who abandoned their families. There have been soldiers and pacifists, preachers and sinners, doctors and lawyers, farmers and merchants.
